House physicians provide immediate medical care for urgent and emergent situations in the absence of the attending physician. As a part of the role, the house physician, responds to pages promptly, addresses patient issues willingly and works in effective and collaborative ways with physicians, nursing and other staff on the units.

Requirements
Must have completed one year of post-graduate residency training, have a current Minnesota license, DEA and ACLS certification.
Orientation shifts provided to all new moonlighters.
University of Minnesota Medical Center, Fairview - West Bank
Responsible for code coverage, change of status exams, some admissions, and other urgent medical issues for the West Bank campus of the University of Minnesota Medical Center, Fairview.
University of Minnesota Medical Center, Fairview - East Bank
Responsible for providing coverage for adult patients on non-teaching services. Areas of house physician coverage include BMT, heme/onc, pulmonary, Firm E, Firm G, and occasionally cardiology patients.
Fairview Southdale Hospital
Assess patients to determine need for additional services, ameliorate minor illnesses or injuries, consult with attending physician on patients with major illnesses or injuries. Provide immediate medical care to individuals in the hospital for emergent situations.
